Supportive Services for Women

Supportive Services for Women is a program to provide supportive counselling to newcomer women who are experiencing domestic violence. Our services are both linguistically and culturally sensitive for the clients. This is vitally important to newcomer women who experience many linguistic and cultural barriers in obtaining supports and services.

Program Description:

  • Individual Crisis intervention counselling with no waiting list
  • Information & referral services
  • Support groups for recently separated/divorced women
  • Workshops on self-esteem, anger management, assertiveness, job-search, stress management, health alternatives, parenting and more
  • Networking for isolated women through groups
  • Free non-judgmental, confidential support
  • Victims of violence are helped to identify and examine their options in order to survive and work through their crisis
  • Accompaniment of victims to the hospitals, police stations or to court and avocation on their behalf when necessary
  • Referral of client to other agencies or professionals when appropriate
  • Response to women of all cultures in culturally sensitive environment through many languages
  • Public education by reaching community through presentation in various organization and mass media
